The victory added another gold medal to China’s tally at the Games and marked an important result for the Chinese wushu team in the sanda competition.

Wang Chengjin Takes Control of the Final

Wang Chengjin faced Iran’s Panahigleikolaei in the men’s 65kg final.

From the opening stages, Wang maintained an active approach and looked to control the pace and distance of the bout. He combined offensive attacks with effective defensive control and gradually established an advantage.

Wang ultimately completed the final with a2-0 victory, securing the men’s 65kg Asian Games title.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Khac Kien and Afghanistan’s Ashrafi took the bronze medals in the event.

A Strong Run Through the Competition

Wang’s gold medal was the result of a consistent performance throughout the tournament.

In his opening bout on Sept. 21, Wang faced Nepal’s Sunar Amar. He built a 12-point advantage in just over one minute, earning a victory by the required point margin and advancing to the quarterfinals.

Despite the quick victory, Wang said after the bout that the competition would become increasingly difficult as the tournament progressed and that he could not afford to relax.

In the quarterfinals on Sept. 22, Wang continued his winning run and advanced to the next stage. Six Chinese sanda athletes competing in different men’s and women’s weight categories all won their quarterfinal bouts that day, according to Xinhua.

Wang then continued through the knockout rounds before reaching the final, where he completed his campaign with a 2-0 victory.

Speed and Power

Sanda requires athletes to combine striking ability, speed, strength, distance management and tactical judgment.

Wang demonstrated his speed and power from the opening round. His quick attacks allowed him to establish control early and finish the bout with a substantial points advantage.

As the competition progressed, however, opponents became stronger and the physical demands increased. Maintaining offensive efficiency while managing energy and adapting to different opponents became increasingly important.

Wang’s ability to maintain his performance through successive rounds ultimately carried him to the final.

China Collects Multiple Sanda Gold Medals

Wang’s victory came during a productive day for the Chinese wushu team.

China also collected gold medals in several other sanda weight categories. Ma Shuo won the men’s 70kg title, Tang Sishuo took gold in the men’s 60kg division, and Ou Jiaming won the men’s 56kg category.

In the women’s competition, Zhang Xiaoyu won the 60kg title and Wu Di claimed gold in the 52kg division.

The series of victories gave China a strong showing in the sanda events at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Another Gold for China

Wang Chengjin’s victory also came during a particularly busy stretch of competition for the Chinese delegation.

China entered Sept. 24 having won 48 gold medals by the end of competition on Sept. 23. A series of victories in rowing and wushu on Thursday then pushed the Chinese delegation’s gold-medal total higher.

Wang’s 65kg title became another addition to China’s growing medal haul.

For Wang personally, the victory represents the culmination of a demanding tournament campaign. From a rapid opening-round win to successive victories in the knockout stages and finally a 2-0 victory in the final, he maintained his form throughout the competition.

At the wushu arena in Nagoya, the Chinese fighter completed his Asian Games campaign with the men’s 65kg gold medal, adding another title to China’s strong performance in sanda.
