Xiaomi 18 Pro Launches at RMB 5,999 With 2nm Chip and 7,000mAh Battery

BEIJING, Sept. 23, 2026— Xiaomi has officially launched its new flagship Xiaomi 18 Pro smartphone in China, with a starting price ofRMB 5,999 (about US$840). The new device brings a 2nm flagship processor, a 7,000mAh battery, Leica-branded dual 200-megapixel cameras and a redesigned rear display.

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max at its autumn product launch in Beijing on Wednesday. The Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at RMB 5,999 for the 12GB+256GB model and is available immediately after the launch.

The four configurations of the Xiaomi 18 Pro are priced at RMB 5,999 for 12GB+256GB, RMB 6,999 for 12GB+512GB, RMB 7,999 for 16GB+512GB and RMB 8,999 for 16GB+1TB.

First Xiaomi Phone With New 2nm Flagship Platform

Performance is one of the key selling points of the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

The phone is the first to feature Qualcomm's sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship mobile platform, built using a new 2nm process. Its CPU reaches a maximum clock speed of 5GHz, which Xiaomi describes as the highest frequency in the history of mobile platforms.

According to Xiaomi's published figures, GPU performance improves by 35 percent while GPU power consumption falls by 40 percent. NPU inference performance is up 80 percent, while overall computing performance increases by 15 percent.

The new processor is paired with an upgraded cooling and packaging system designed to improve sustained performance during demanding workloads.

7,000mAh Battery in the Pro Model

Battery capacity is another major upgrade.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a7,000mAh batteryusing Xiaomi's new Jinsha River battery technology. The battery has a silicon content of 32 percent, allowing Xiaomi to increase capacity while maintaining the phone's flagship positioning.

The device also supports UWB connectivity and IP66, IP68 and IP69 protection against dust and water.

The larger Xiaomi 18 Pro Max takes battery capacity even further, reaching 8,500mAh. The Pro Max starts at RMB 6,999.

Dual 200MP Leica Cameras

Photography is another major focus of the new flagship.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro features Leica-branded cameras, including a 200-megapixel main camera and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera. The telephoto system uses a 75mm native focal length, supports 3.2x optical zoom and offers long-focus macro photography as close as 12cm.

Both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max use a 1/1.28-inch 200-megapixel main sensor and a 1/1.56-inch 200-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor, according to details released after the launch.

The move gives the smaller Pro model a photography setup closer to the larger Pro Max, potentially making the smaller flagship more attractive to users who prefer a compact phone without giving up high-end camera hardware.

AI-Powered Rear Display

One of the most distinctive features of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is its rear display.

The new “AI Dynamic Rear Display” allows users to create customized applications and widgets with AI. Xiaomi demonstrated functions including an egg timer, hydration tracker, Pomodoro timer, vocabulary cards and meal recommendations.

Xiaomi said the previous generation's rear display applications were used more than four million times per day, while wallpapers were added more than 3.5 million times in a single day.

The rear display can also be used for framing when taking selfies with the main camera, adding another practical use to what was previously a distinctive design feature.

Xiaomi Pushes Further Into the Premium Smartphone Market

With a starting price of RMB 5,999, the Xiaomi 18 Pro moves further into the premium smartphone segment.

The company has upgraded multiple areas at once, including processing power, battery capacity, photography, display technology and AI features. The phone also launches with Xiaomi's latest HyperOS 4 operating system.

The pricing also reflects rising component costs across the smartphone industry. Xiaomi's latest flagship is more expensive than previous generations, while the company is positioning the additional hardware and AI capabilities as part of a broader upgrade rather than relying on a single specification.

For consumers, the Xiaomi 18 Pro's combination of a 2nm flagship processor, 7,000mAh battery, dual 200-megapixel Leica cameras and AI-enabled rear display makes it one of Xiaomi's most ambitious digital-series flagships to date.

With sales beginning immediately in China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will now enter a competitive premium smartphone market where manufacturers are increasingly competing not only on hardware specifications, but also on AI capabilities, battery life, imaging systems and cross-device ecosystems.
