“This Is Our Moment”: League of Legends Worlds 2026 Begins Under the Slogan “Who Will Make Their Mark?”
The 2026 League of Legends World Championship, also known as Worlds 2026 or S16, began on October 15, bringing together leading teams from around the world for the season’s biggest international competition. Under the Chinese campaign slogan “风起今朝,谁留名?”—roughly translated as “The winds rise today. Who will make their mark?”—the tournament invites players to leave past achievements behind and prove themselves on the global stage.
The message is clear: previous titles and reputations may shape expectations, but only performances in the current competition can determine who makes history.
Four LPL Teams Carry China’s Hopes
China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL) is represented by four teams: Anyone’s Legend (AL), Bilibili Gaming (BLG), Top Esports (TES) and Invictus Gaming (iG).
Each team arrives with a different story. AL aims to continue its rise and challenge established contenders. BLG is seeking to turn years of high-level competition into a world championship. TES hopes to overcome past obstacles and deliver greater consistency in decisive series. iG, meanwhile, has returned to the international stage after a period of ups and downs.
On October 14, the official League of Legends esports account released the LPL departure film, “风起今朝.” The video combines player stories, team memories and moments of determination to portray the effort required to reach Worlds.
One of its central narratives focuses on iG’s journey from a reported four-percent qualification chance to a place at the tournament. The message is that extraordinary outcomes do not happen by chance; they are built through persistence, trust and hard work.
Defending Champions Face New Challenges
Worlds is rarely a simple continuation of domestic league rankings. Defending champions must contend with opponents who have studied their strategies, established teams must demonstrate that they remain among the best, and emerging players have an opportunity to make a name for themselves internationally.
The 2026 tournament brings together teams with different tactical approaches and regional traditions. Draft decisions, understanding of the current game version, individual form and in-game adaptation could all influence the final standings.
For the LPL representatives, success will depend on more than mechanical skill. Consistent map control, resource management, coordination in team fights and the ability to recover from mistakes will be crucial as the competition intensifies.
“KNOW MY NAME” Adds to the Tournament Atmosphere
The official Worlds 2026 anthem, “KNOW MY NAME,” has also become part of the tournament’s promotional campaign. The track features i-dle member SOYEON, Coco Jones, Vic Mensa and Sofía Reyes, continuing the event’s tradition of combining esports with music and visual storytelling.
The idea of making one’s name is central to the championship. It may refer to the team that ultimately lifts the trophy, but it can also describe a player who delivers a decisive performance, leads a comeback or breaks through on the international stage for the first time.
Such moments often become part of Worlds history long after the final standings are forgotten.
The Champion Has Yet to Be Decided
Worlds 2026 is scheduled to continue into November, with matches taking place across multiple cities in the United States before the champion is determined through the later stages of the tournament.

For fans, the appeal lies not only in the race for the title, but also in the clashes between regional styles and the stories that emerge under pressure. For the competing teams, every match offers a chance to reshape expectations and prove that they belong among the world’s best.
“The winds rise today. Who will make their mark?” remains an open question. Past championships, previous disappointments and pre-tournament predictions cannot determine the outcome. As the competition unfolds, the teams that adapt, seize opportunities and perform when it matters most will have the best chance of writing their names into League of Legends history.
