China produced another remarkable run of victories at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on September 24, winningnine gold medals in roughly two hoursacross rowing and wushu.
The rapid succession of victories created a remarkable gold-medal rush for the Chinese delegation, with athletes repeatedly reaching the top of the podium in different venues.
Three Golds in Rowing
The first wave of victories came in rowing.
In the men's double sculls, China'sYi Xudi and Nie Yidewon the gold medal.
Deng Zhiweithen claimed the men's single sculls title, crossing the finish line in6:38.98.
China also won gold in the women's four, withZhang Shuxian, Li Duolei, Zhang Yangjing and Liu Yaqitaking the title.
The three rowing victories provided an early boost before the focus shifted to the wushu competition.
Six Golds in Wushu Sanda
China then produced an even more concentrated run of victories in wushu sanda.
Ma Shuowon the men's 70kg title, whileWang Chengjintook gold in the men's 65kg category.
In the men's 60kg final,Tang Sishuocaptured the gold medal, giving Jiangsu its first Asian Games gold in wushu sanda.
Ou Jiamingthen won the men's 56kg title.
China also secured two women's sanda gold medals.Zhang Xiaoyuwon the women's 60kg category, whileWu Diclaimed the women's 52kg title.
With six gold medals coming from the sanda competition, China completed a highly concentrated run of victories.
Nine Golds in Approximately Two Hours
The nine-gold haul came from two different sports and represented one of the busiest periods of medal success for China at the Games.
Three rowing golds plus six wushu sanda golds gave China nine championships in roughly two hours.
The sequence highlighted China's strength across multiple sports, while also demonstrating the importance of preparation and consistency in events where several finals are scheduled within a short period.
September 24 is one of the busiest medal days of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with dozens of gold medals scheduled to be decided.
