dexinwin NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 18, 2026— China’s women’s volleyball team secured its place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 on Friday to finish first in Group B with a perfect two-match record.
China won the match25-18, 25-6, 25-14, completing the group stage without dropping a set. The result followed China’s 3-0 victory over the Philippines in its opening match.
China Dominates Kazakhstan
China made a fast start against Kazakhstan and quickly established control through its attacking and blocking game.
After taking the opening set 25-18, China produced a particularly dominant performance in the second. The Chinese side limited Kazakhstan to just six points and won the set 25-6.
Kazakhstan attempted to respond at the beginning of the third set, creating a closer contest in the early stages. China adjusted quickly, regained control and eventually closed out the match 25-14.
The victory gave China two wins from two matches and confirmed its position at the top of Group B.
Quarterfinal Place Secured
The women's volleyball tournament features 14 teams divided into groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
China and Kazakhstan had already secured their quarterfinal places after Kazakhstan defeated the Philippines on Sept. 17. Friday's match therefore determined the final order at the top of Group B.
China's first-place finish means it enters the knockout stage after an unbeaten group campaign.
Defending Champions Stay Unbeaten
China entered the Asian Games as the defending women's volleyball champion.
The team opened its campaign against the Philippines and won 3-0. However, head coach Zhao Yong said after that match that the team still had room to improve, particularly in defense.
Against Kazakhstan, China showed greater control, particularly during the second set, when its blocking and attacking pressure prevented its opponent from establishing a consistent rhythm.
The two group-stage victories also give the Chinese team an opportunity to reset before the more demanding knockout phase.
Quarterfinals Begin on Sept. 20
The women's volleyball quarterfinals are scheduled forSept. 20. China's opponent will be determined after the remaining group-stage matches are completed.
The knockout stage will provide a different challenge, as each match will directly determine whether a team advances toward the medal rounds.
For China, the immediate objective is to maintain the form shown during the group stage while improving areas identified during its opening match.
Focus Turns to the Knockout Stage
With two consecutive 3-0 victories, China has completed the preliminary stage without losing a set.
The team will now have two days before its quarterfinal match to prepare for the knockout round. As the tournament moves into its decisive phase, the Chinese women's volleyball team will look to carry its group-stage momentum into the quarterfinals and continue its title defense in Nagoya.
