China entered the Games with815 athletes, more than two-thirds of whom were making their Asian Games debut. The delegation's average age is about 24, highlighting the emphasis on younger athletes during the current Olympic cycle.

China won multiple gold medals on the first full day of competition, including titles in modern pentathlon, triathlon, shooting and swimming. By the end of the day, Chinese athletes had collected11 gold medals, putting the delegation at the top of the early medal standings.
Swimming star Pan Zhanle successfully defended his men's 100m freestyle title, while 13-year-old Yu Zidi won the women's 200m butterfly and Xu Jiayu retained his men's 100m backstroke title.
