Xi Jinping to Pay State Visit to the United States from September 23 to 25

Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25 at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on September 21.

The visit comes at a time when relations between the world's two largest economies remain closely watched internationally. During his stay in the United States, Xi is expected to hold talks with Trump on major issues concerning China-U.S. relations, as well as matters related to world peace and development.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference that the two leaders will have an in-depth exchange of views during the visit. He described the reciprocal visits by the Chinese and U.S. heads of state within a six-month period as having "historic, milestone significance."

The upcoming visit follows Trump's state visit to China earlier this year. The two leaders' meetings are expected to provide an opportunity for direct communication on bilateral relations and areas where the two countries have differences.
