UFO Spotted During Mexico Military Parade? Mysterious Object Appears Alongside Military Aircraft

A mysterious object spotted in the sky during Mexico City’s Independence Day military parade has sparked a wave of online speculation, with some viewers calling it a possible UFO after footage appeared to show the unidentified object flying near military aircraft.

Mexico held its annual Civic-Military Parade in Mexico City on September 16, 2026, marking the 216th anniversary of the start of the country’s independence movement. The event featured a major aerial display, with 93 Mexican Air Force aircraft, six National Guard aircraft, eight Navy aircraft and 50 drones taking part, according to Mexico’s presidency.

Amid the extensive aerial activity, videos circulating online appeared to show a dark, roughly diamond-shaped object beneath or near a formation of military aircraft. The object seemed to remain relatively stationary for several seconds before disappearing from the camera’s view.

The unusual footage quickly attracted attention on social media. Some users described the object as a “UFO,” while others suggested it could have been a drone, balloon or another conventional airborne object.

A report published by Taiwan-based ETtoday described the object as dark gray and noted that it appeared in footage alongside military aircraft during the September 16 parade. However, the report also stressed that there has been no official information identifying the object.

The timing of the sighting made the footage particularly eye-catching. Mexico’s 2026 parade was one of the country’s largest recent aerial military displays, with nearly 100 aircraft taking part. Mexican broadcaster N+ reported that the aircraft performed coordinated formations and aerial maneuvers as part of the event.

That heavy concentration of aircraft and drones also makes visual identification difficult. Perspective can significantly distort the apparent size, distance and speed of an object, particularly when a small object is filmed against aircraft flying at a much greater distance.

There is currently no publicly confirmed evidence showing that the mysterious object was an extraterrestrial spacecraft. No official Mexican agency has announced that an unidentified aircraft entered the parade’s restricted airspace, and no publicly available radar or flight data has established the object’s identity.

The term “UFO,” meanwhile, simply means an unidentified flying object. It does not by itself mean an alien spacecraft. Until additional footage, radar information or an official investigation becomes available, the object seen in the viral video remains unidentified.

For now, the footage has become one of the most talked-about moments surrounding Mexico’s 2026 Independence Day parade — not because authorities have confirmed a UFO, but because viewers still cannot agree on what exactly appeared alongside the military aircraft.
