A pair of designer jeans with a surprisingly revealing twist has caught the attention of fashion shoppers online: theVETEMENTS Blue & Transparent Back O-Leg Jeans, a luxury denim design featuring a conventional denim front and a transparent back.

The jeans are currently listed by SSENSE at around$1,805 in one market, while other listings and reports have placed the item at approximately$1,350, depending on the market and currency. The design has quickly become a talking point because of its unusual construction.

At first glance, the jeans look relatively ordinary. They feature a light-blue denim front, a classic five-pocket construction, belt loops and traditional stitching. The unexpected element becomes apparent when the wearer turns around: much of the rear portion is replaced with transparent material, creating a see-through effect.

The design is officially known as theBlue & Transparent Back O-Leg Jeans. According to product information reported by fashion retailer SSENSE, the jeans are part of VETEMENTS' current collection and are priced at €1,250 on its Netherlands site.

The unusual garment is not simply a pair of jeans with fabric removed. Fashion coverage of the design says it combines traditional cotton denim with transparent polyurethane, creating a deliberately contrasting appearance between the front and back. The garment is made in Italy.

The concept traces back to VETEMENTS' Spring/Summer 2026 collection, presented in Paris in October 2025. The collection explored designs that appeared conventionally dressed from the front while exposing or transforming the back.

The jeans have generated mixed reactions online, with some fashion enthusiasts viewing the unusual construction as an example of avant-garde luxury fashion, while others have questioned whether such an unconventional garment justifies a four-figure price tag.

That debate reflects a broader trend in contemporary designer fashion, where familiar wardrobe staples such as jeans, jackets and shirts are increasingly being reconstructed with transparent materials, exaggerated proportions and unexpected cuts.

For VETEMENTS, however, unconventional designs are hardly new. The Paris-based fashion house has built much of its identity around challenging conventional ideas about everyday clothing and turning familiar garments into statement pieces.

Whether the transparent-back jeans become a lasting fashion trend or remain a niche runway-inspired statement, their eye-catching design has already achieved one important goal: getting people to stop, look twice and talk about what a pair of jeans can be.
